Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

All drivers, motor-cyclist and cyclists - You now MUST give way to pedestrians at junctions

It seems to me that most vehicular road users of all types are unaware of the change that came into force at the start of this year.

Rule H2 applies to drivers, motorcyclists horse-drawn vehicles, horse riders and cyclists. It reads:

At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.

From January 2022 a pedestrian waiting to cross should be given priority. Previously, drivers were told to give way to pedestrians if they ‘have started crossing and traffic wants to turn into the road’.

Ahh that explains some odd moments drivers have stopped whilst other traffic didn’t causing a very unsafe crossing opportunity and requiring me to wave the driver on anyway.

Interest. Who is going to Enforce it ?

When the Borough is plagued with fast food delivery riders

Who seem to believe no law effects them

Especially when Most seem to ride wrong side of the road and totally are against stopping at traffic lights

Can not understand why Council seems unwilling or able to stop them parking and riding along footway

We need more junctions like this.

When GL was improved some time back and the raised crossings at the Ladder/GL junctions  were introduced I argued that they should be a different colour to the black tarmac the road consists of to indicate to drivers that something was different and they should be more alert/should actually give pedestrians priority...
