Role Summary: |
We are looking for a team of enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the preparation and delivery of pre-booked guided tours. |
Organisation |
Alexandra Palace is a Grade II listed north London landmark built in 1873 as a leisure facility on a grand scale. During the First World War the Park and Palace were used to house Belgian refugees and enemy aliens before becoming the home of the BBC between 1935 and 1981. Alexandra Palace is setting out long term regeneration plans which both promote its heritage and widen public access to the most historically significant areas of the Park and Palace. |
Outline of tasks: |
Main Duties:-
Front of House customer service (Register visitors for tours and monitor group size)
Answer questions about the history of the Palace and Park and hand out factsheets
Lead guided tours (script and training will be provided)
Escort tours groups
Encourage tour groups to complete evaluation forms
Cash handling
Take photographs of the event for our website |
When: |
Quarterly dates to be confirmed, advance notice will be given to all volunteers |
Commitment: |
A commitment of 1 training day or 2 ½ days of training and to be available to volunteer for a suggested minimum of 2 days of tours per year. |

I agree but it is common to use vols for these roles, we come across retired people with lots of local knowledge in national trust houses, places of historical interest all over the country, kenwood house for example.
