Advice on Laying Astro-Turf @ S Harringay School

Anyone got any experience of laying astro-turf? The PSA are looking at replacing some grass turf with astro-turf, but it looks expensive. I was hoping that we might find a way of doing a successful DIY job to reduce costs, but initial advice is it might be tricky given the non regular shape to be covered.

Any thoughts?
