This talk is the first in a series of heritage talks about our local park's 150 year history.
A Walk in the Park
London's parks are such a familiar part of everyday life. You might be forgiven for thinking they have always been there – and that they always will. In fact, the roots of even the most humble neighbourhood park lie in age-old battles over land and liberty. From their medieval life as private royal hunting grounds to the establishment of ‘People's Parks’ in the Victorian period and their present incarnation as public spaces teeming with activity, Travis Elborough, author of A Walk in the Park, traces their history in an illustrated talk.
Wednesday, 29th January 6-7.30 pm
The talk is free but we're told that spaces are limited and are advised that you can book early here.
