Mix is a gem – I've taken photos of their facade too, Hugh. Somehow Mix has more charm than Homebase. And I don't think it employs forced labour.

Hugh - Thank you _so much_ for posting this. I love browsing hardware stores of the traditional kind, and only use the anonymous "warehouse" stores like Homebase if I am forced to. Somehow I have remained ignorant of this one. I shall have to make a visit as soon as possible. It looks truly marvellous, a wonderland for "DIYers" and those of us who like to potter around doing odd jobs <g>.
