Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Basking in the sunshine, the welcome sight of a painted lady on a Mattison Road front garden hedge.

Painted Lady Butterflies are migrants, arriving in our gardens, verges, woods and hedgerows from May until October.

Also a reminder of how front gardens with flowers and hedges are as important for wildlife as our back gardens (and much prettier than concrete).

Worth noting that raising Painted Ladies seems to be popular school activity (e.g. look at the list of suppliers on google), so I wonder if it's really a migrant?

Definitely agree re hedges & flowers in a front garden - particularly if it is south facing.
