This year's Reith lecture is given by Professor Michael Sandel, on the theme: "A New Citzenship" which draws on a lifetime's thinking about justice, democracy and notions about what might and should constitute an idea of the "common good".
We need to decide, he believes, what kind of government we want, and actively fight for it.
I listened to the first one this morning, on markets and morals which questioned the tendancy in recent years to bring the market into every area of our lives and asks whether there should be areas of public life that are not subject to market forces.
