It's the first day of spring (meteorologically speaking) - finally - and I can't wait to get out into the countryside again to enjoy it.
For those of you who feel the same, I attach the first spring walk in 'Walks for Each Season: 26 great days out in the countryside near London', accessible by tube or train with a great pub half way. The second edition has just been published.
The second edition retains all the features that proved so popular last time, great walks, ordnance survey maps, stunning photos, easy to follow directions - even info on loos! The book still entreats people to seize the moment, escape the city & fully experience the beauty of each season and leads you through bluebells in spring, among poppies and wildflower meadows in summer, into the glory of beechwoods in autumn and to the breathtaking display of a starling murmuration in winter. Each walk starts & ends at a station,
You can buy it locally from Harringay Store, All Good Bookshop and bookshops in Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Highgate should have stock in, as should most independent London bookshops - please support them. Plus it's available online - bookshop.org is a good ethical store, but ok, yes it's also on Amazon. The first edition is still available in Haringey Libraries and the second edition should be there soon.
Thank you to those of you who bought the first edition. To save you buying the updated version, I attach updates to directions in the second. My new blog also contains updates to the first edition plus I'll post any updates to the second there too walks4eachseason. The cliff path on the Folkstone walk still hasn't been restored.

I heartily recommend this fabulous walking guide. We've used it for many a walk and look forward to probably starting with the easy spring Eridge walk soon. I've gifted this to many friends (who love it too) and recommended it to many others. It's a brilliant guide of walking routes that you may not otherwise have known were there. The step by step instructions are easy to follow and the season layout is probably my favourite thing for inspiration any time of the year. Great that there an updated 2nd edition. Thanks souch for sharing the changes to the routes!
You are very welcome and thanks for taking the time to post, it's always lovely to to receive feedback,
Apologies, I made a mistake in my post. I was intending to attach the Chorleywood walk, which is accessible by tube/train and has the pub in the middle. The walk I attached is the second walk. It also has a great pub, but the Huntsman is at the end of the walk not the middle. A good way to get to Eridge from us is to catch a train to Finsbury Park, catch the Thameslink to East Croydon and then a train to Eridge. We walked near Eridge at the weekend and the paths are just about passable now after a week of sun, but still best to wait until the last week of March first week in April when the early spring flowers are out. None are showing at the moment.
