Rhi, thanks for this info. Do you know if there is an offline version of this going around the schools? Feel there would be a fair few offline parents who would be interested in signing this.
Yes folks, sign up for Haringey's kids. (Now here's a thought: a bus petition to the PM's Office might save a lot of shoe leather.)
I know that the governors at South Harringay have spoken of having a petition available for signature at their summer fair on 20 June.
I intend to bring it up at the Parent Teachers Assoc meeting I'm attending tomorrow, but you are right, Ben, this does seem a bit of a 'no brainer'. Why wouldn't you support a campaign that is trying to end such blatant unfairness?

It has cross party, cross union support and its time the residents get behind the campaign as well.
Hope it is Ok to give some information from the campaign here.

The campaign leaflet is being updated all the time as more supporters sign up. Latest supporters include:

Haringey Green Party, Hornsey & Wood Green Labour Party and The Haringey Advertiser.

For the latest version of the leaflet go to www.fairdealforharingeychildren.org

There is also a link to the petition there.

There will be a hard copy of the petition produced once we get a PO Box for returns set up for the campaign (this is not easy...)

We should have a translation in Turkish available next week. If anyone can help with other translations that would be very welcome!

The campaign is a long haul - the Government's "Funding Review Group" is looking at these issues now, but is not due to report until next year.

How long has this been going on? More than curious...
The flaws in the funding formula date back to 1990/91 when the Area cost adjustment was brought in. Mrs Thatcher was PM at the time so it is not surprising that it was from the start tilted against Haringey. The current methodology dates from 2003/4 when Outer London was divided into West & East (the West got more), leading to a further worsening for Haringey. Since 2005/6 Haringey has further lost out because of the "spend plus inflation" approach, rather than applying the (flawed) methodology each year. So it's been a problem for a long time, but has got worse and worse for Haringey. The campaign has been started now because the Government has set up a Funding Review Group to look at the formula afresh.
Petition at 414 names. Can we get it to 500 by the end of the week?
In answer to Liz's original question, the campaign has now got a PO Box for returns of hard copies of the petition and we will put that version on our website later this week, along with the Turkish translation of the leaflet. If anyone can help with any other translations that would be very welcome.
great idea!
There are only 880 signatures on the Downing Street petition! We need you help!!! Please circulate this petition to get Harringay students more funding!! http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/FairDealHaringey/

any ideas on other websites we can use to publicize this issue?
