A Date for Your Diary: Hidden River Festival - this September
There's no Harringay Festival on Green Lanes this year, but we do have the Hidden River Festival, celebrating 400 years since the New River was opened and the communities that live along the stretch of it between Hornsey and Manor House.
For now, just reserve the day - more soon - watch HoL and the festival website.

The festival is partnering with Water Aid. It seemed to be a natural fit - the New River was built to bring much needed fresh water into London 400 years ago. Water Aid continues that work worldwide today.
The website image was found independently by the website designer (James Law of Hidden Cinema fame), but turned out be one I took in Finsbury Park back in 2008! How's about that for coincidence! I've no idea who the girl in pink is. Do you know?

Funnily enough I have a snow shot of Finsbury Park from a couple of years back where the only colour comes from a distant woman in pink... Perhaps the same woman!
Great idea though. If I can help in some small way (eg with my small knowledge of local birds) I will.

Perhaps http://newriver.org.uk/contacts.htm could assist? Also it might be worth checking out the current Enfield exhibition at Dugdale Centre whitch is great, but is only about the Enfield stretch. Hornsey Historical Society may have archive material that could be used for research by whoever is doing this project. Just email Joy Nichol at archivist@hornseyhistorical.org.uk to ask what they have, or call in on any Friday when Archive Team there between 10 and 4. They can assist your research.
