Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

So wanna know how much Haringey makes from its banner/lampost advertising?

Following the earlier discussion, I got an amazingly quick response to my Freedom of information request with two pieces of info:

Total annual income for 2007-08 for Haringey Borough as a whole & also for Harringay & St Ann's wards combined.

Would you like to know the figures?

First you have to guess..........

For the local one, which seems to be mainly Sainsburys (?) .... £1000?
20 quid!
£5,000 a year for all of the Sainsburys banners?
Not bad:

Haringey Borough £38,058
Harringay & St Ann's £6,241

Is the visual defacement contributed by the banners worth it?
Nope! Axe the Haringey People to make up the difference.
I hope you mean ask Liz..
No, I mean chop it up into little pieces and...recycle sensibly :)
Oh dear this is my second blooper on HOL today..
Better still axe the 40k bottled water bill as well as this visual junk and they have made money.
No!

WHEN Haringey Council deal with the private sector (as with Firoka and the Alexandra Palace scandal), they end up having rings run around them.

The company responsible for the lamppost advertising and who paid the council the above paltry sums, is rumoured to have sold on the advertising space for more than £200,000.

They will be laughing all the way to a non-Icelandic bank ...
Maybe the best solution is just to try a little bit harder on Council Tax collection and get just a wee fraction of the £5,564,000 owed for last year.
