Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

From "Save Ally Pally"

The Circus at Alexandra Palace
========================
Over the last couple of years, the AP Trust Board has put on an
amazing display of public entertainment, replete with clowns, a
high-wire act and trained animals. Hopefully some of the older animals
will now be put out to pasture, having out-lived their ability to
perform.

What better way to celebrate the final walking-out of the ring by
Firoka, than a trip by the whole family to a real circus - at
Alexandra Palace itself!

The Moscow State Circus begins a 10 day performance in the Paddock
from tomorrow, Thursday, 21 August. Tickets range from £7 to £27. For
those interested, information is available on AP's own website at this
page:

At the risk of being boring - the first time the MSC visited western Europe was Harringay Arena in 1956.
Fantastic show by the acrobats, and gymnasts amongst other acts, its like having the Olympics on your own doorstep, with the full orchestra, who needs to go to Beijing??

Prepare to be amazed!
Lynne, I take it you've just been; can you say whether or not the circus features animal performances or is it just humans? (I've been asked about this!)
Humans are animals too Clive or are you asking about the quality of the audience?
They use to but I cannot find any on there site now.

A lot of councils in the UK banned circus's with performing non-human animals on their land forcing the circus to pitch up on private land. In fact the government are on course to ban animals in traveling shows in this country.

I have been on a few protests in the late eighties and saw some horrific sights including the wildest and most violent people I have ever come across, namely the circus people.

I think things have changed since then and this article says they do not use animals anymore:
