It's the one near the bus stop on the Gardens side of Green Lane, next to the Parade chemists. They have those amazing 'princess' wedding cakes in the window which have fascinated by daughter since she was tiny. They also do a very decent apple pie.
Pasky, you've forgotten to offer 50/1 on a hairdressers/barbers with maybe the same odds on a jewellers.
That’s the one, I wouldn’t want to eat one of those dusty cakes, just stare at them in amazement!
I wish I had taken a photograph!
Has anybody taken one for the history of Harringay?
I also noticed 3 places empty on the bus home today, the travel agents (opposite the Old Ale), Andrea’s fish bar (I know, long time now), and the Istanbul restaurant seems to have some notice on the door and a pile of mail on the floor.
This is the biggest turn over of businesses that I have seen in all the 10 years I have been here. Is this to do with progress or (dare I say the phrase) credit crunch time?
Well, looking forward to seeing the new businesses, and hope I won’t be disappointed.
I think Liz mentioned in another discussion about the Lib Dem newsletter Focus that came thru the letterbox recently - there has been 10 new applications for betting offices for Green lanes!! Yes TEN. If there is even one more, I think I might stick one of those plastic cakes over my head and wonder blindly into the traffic on Green Lanes.
I was rather surprised to read that particular figure of 'up to 10' (rather, as Hugh pointed out, an odd way to phrase it and I intend to seek clarification as to where that comes from from the councillors. The LCSP knew nothing of it last night.
