The Guardian & Unltd have teamed up to offer awards of between £500 & £5,000 to people who want to take action to improve the environment, whether it's through a local community recycling scheme, a high impact climate change project or campaigning to bring local food to your area. The important thing is that your idea has the potential to make a difference, is creative but achievable and that you are committed, enthusiastic and focused.
They are looking for people that:
- Have an idea that will benefit the environment
- Have thought about how they will run their project
- Have some evidence that there is a need for their project
- Will learn a new skill from carrying out their project

- Recycling
- Green transport
- Local food initiatives
- Campaigning
- Alternative energy
- 'Lightbulb' category – for exceptional ideas that don't fit into the above
