Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

From the council website:

The search is on for anyone interested in becoming a governor for the new secondary community school planned for Wood Green.

The school will be part of the Heartlands development near the Alexandra Park train station and is due to open in 2010.

In the lead up to the opening, Haringey Council is setting up a temporary governing body and is now seeking nominations from interested parties and individuals.

The role of the temporary governing body is to take necessary and important decisions to support the preparation for the opening of the new community school.

The temporary governing body is appointed by the local authority and would be made up of parents, staff, as well as local authority and community representatives.

Cllr Liz Santry, cabinet member for children and young people services, said:

"We are keen to hear from individuals and representatives who live within the borough and have experience or a particular skill which would be of benefit.

"Potential candidates don't need to be an expert in the field of education to be a school governor but you do need to be enthusiastic, committed and willing to work as part of a team."

If you are interested in becoming a governor, contact Pat Elcock on 0208 489 5029. Anyone who is interested is requested to contact Pat by Friday 13 June.

Details about the new school can be obtained at: www.haringey.gov.uk/newschool
