Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Harringay music?
Is there any? Do we have any musicians and/or bands in the area? I know that there are events at the Salisbury, but are there other music venues and events. We have Books and Art, Photography, Gardening, Cooking, Health but I rarely hear anything about anything musical going on.
I'm happy to start a 'Music' group (for all kinds of music ) to post info etc if people think that it would be useful.

Liz, this is a very good idea. Can't believe this hasn't been thought of before.
The Ladder Summer Party at the open space (top of Falkland/ Fairfax Rds, for those that don't know) always has an open session and various bands get together. At the moment this is planned for Sunday July 13th.
If any musicians would like to join in as part of this local event, feel free to say so!

I'm a saxophonist, sax teacher, choral singer, improviser - and play with various jazz/cabaret/blues/funk outfits - a few listed below. There are loads of musicians around here - e.g. in the Haringey Arts! (HA!) community based around the Arena Design Centre at the corner of Ashfield/Oakdale Road which is where I'm based.
I was talking just the other day to a local trumpet player about how we should have a local session somewhere, sometime...
Some other local venues:
I see the Finsbury Pub by Manor House tube station is putting on some live jazz now. Anyone been?
Also, "The Others" above the Snooker Hall at 6 Manor Road, down by Stoke Newington station has some extremely good jazz, courtesy of the F-IRE Collective on Tuesday evenings, which very few people seem aware of.

Hi Liz
I'm not a musician but know of at least three local, Harringay-based bands and I'm sure they'd be delighted to post any upcoming events/ news to this music group, if you started one.
They have played occassionally at the Salisbury and Beaconsfield but more typically gig around other parts of North London, such as Crouch End and Camden.
I'm not sure that any of their members are on Harringayonline but that can easily be rectified.
Anyway, I think your idea of starting a 'music' group on the site is a good one so look forward to any developments.

I will get onto it. I was pretty sure there would be interest. I felt certain there was a lot of musicians in harringay so i was trying to 'flush em out! :D
I'm not a musician myself but a great lover of music and it would be great to know what is going on locally.
So, music group coming soon!
