Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A TfL recovery lorry hit the railway bridge across Green Lanes by Harringay Station early last night.
A van being carried on the transporter was written off, and a train which was about to cross the bridge was stopped short of the station until BR (or whatever they are known as these days) engineers checked the structual integrity of the bridge, which passed, and trains were allowed to carry on.
Polioce closed the road for a short time whilst the emergency services were in attendance.

I guess these drivers just get tired and don't think about what they're doing. I can just imagine that awful moment when you hear the cruch and think " oh f..........".

Great to have the photo on Flickr too, Paul. Thanks.

You must have some network to always get informed of these events as they happen - and a real willingness to get up and about at all hours!
Does the bridge need redecorating now? ;-)
Oh definitely!
That's quite bizarre, even spooky; the van has the words 'station', 'bridge' & 'removal' on it. If the word 'crash' had also been there .... :)

I think we need a new bridge.
Well spotted Matt. And with a little manipulation:-

He he
Funnily enough I was on a 141 bus just the other side of the bridge going to Manor House. There was an almighty bang - as I looked out of the window everyone seemed to have stopped what they were doing and were all looking in the same direction. Some people on the bus thought that it may have been a gun shot, but then as the bus continued (yes, even though the train was stopped, the bus carried on under the bridge!) it became obvious.
Just to clarify - the photo above is by me, not Paul Wood. Thanks for linking to it, though.
