Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I was at a meeting last night where a council officer said that the guidelines for HMOs have changed in Haringey: Now a household is only considered an HMO if MORE than six unrelated adults live in a house. Does anyone know anything about this?

I received a questionnaire from Haringey Council today, asking for views on the extension of licensing of HMOs in Harringay.

In the cover note, one thing stood out - the Council carried out an initial survey of the area and

" found that around 50% of all converted buildings and 70% of shared accommodation did not comply with legal standards. Fire precautions, security and property management were the most common failures. In addition, over 50 non-licensed mandatory licensable HMOs were found. "

I think people are right to be concerned about HMOs as housing, quite apart from the behaviour of the people living in them.

Thank you.
