Another Polish wartime link, this time a local one. Did you know that the Garden of 10 Hewitt Road (an unusually large one created by the underground line of the New River) had, and indeed still has, a large hut which acted as the Polish airman’s club?
I did not - very interesting. Was it in use during the war or is it a post war addition (eg. social club)? It seems a long way from any airfields so I assume it's the later.
As i understand it, it was a wartime facility. my information comes from the current resident. As far as I know there is no documentation supporting it, but I’m sure it could be far from somewhere.
