The Orchard contains many fruit and nut trees, soft fruit bushes, hedgerows, wildflowers and grasses. The main area is in the South East corner next to Freedom Road and Higham Road Allotments, with two further areas in the North West Corner of the Rec. This area was also planted with over 200 native trees and shrubs in 2017/18.
The conservation and maintenance work that is undertaken in the orchard is determined by the long-term aim to increase biodiversity.
Volunteering sessions are held on the first Saturday of each month, 10am -1pm. We also hold ad hoc sessions during the week depending on what needs to be done.
