That was the question I asked of Haringey a few weeks ago and had a very prompt reply from them. As you can see from the list below, a number of shops who sell goods on the public footpath or have tables and chairs out have not applied for and and been granted permission. Also, the level of enforcement against those who do so without permission is pathetically low and all seem to have been done on a single day in September 2015. You also might notice that Haringey don't give permission for free standing A boards on the pavement. I passed three of these on Green Lanes just 20 or so minutes ago.
I've also attached the conditions for how goods are to be displayed when permission is given, its very clear that they can't just be propped up on milk crates and boxes.

I really like the burgeoning cafe culture on Green Lanes. It's a shame that the outside chairs seem to mostly be for men to smoke at but I'm sure that's not all the time. The business such as Bun and Bar setting up planters outside their shops really improve the streetscape at the cost of a bit of space for us to hustle and bustle past one another.
Burgeoning cafe culture is the plus side however trying to navigate past boards, crates etc encroaching on the pavement along some parts of GL means that sometimes pedestrians have a real problem passing through.
Or in this case "coughing culture"....why anyone would want to consume food or drink along with the now famously elevated PM pollution levels of Green Lanes is beyond me....
Hi Michael
Thanks for doing the FOI. I think it makes interesting reading. I am going to follow it up with Licensing as it is vital that the rules are applied fully and fairly. Not doing that erodes public trust and confidence. I would hope that the Council is not having rules for some, but not others who are seen as favoured.

All very good, but is there ever going to a clean up of all those estate agents boards that never seem to move off the walls of the houses on Green Lanes?
If I had the money, I would just hire a cherry picker and crowbar the ruddy things off.
