Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I assume the residents are busily organising this. There won't be a better chance.

great idea mavic. As a cyclist, I hate wightman road and try to avoid it, but will make the most of no cars,

Street party sounds fab, i was just thinking last week that it has been years since the last green lanes one

Any plans to coincide a wightman road street party with Volunteers' Week, the annual awareness raising campaign to recognise volunteers across the UK? Usually run 1-7 June, this year it is extended by 5 extra days to coincide with the Queen's 90th birthday, so will run 1-12 June. The Queen is the patron of many charities so to mark voluntary effort there will be a big (ticketed) party on the mall and also encouragement for people to apply for local authority permits and hold their own street parties, on Volunteers' Week -

Noooooooooo! Please don't turn a community gig into anything even vaguely pro royal, they get enough from us already.

I'll rake out some of my old "Stuff the Jubilee" badges Maggie! I'm sure we can find a local whose 90th birthday we can celebrate instead (or as well, for those who'd like to mark Mrs Windsor's longevity)

...and I'd be proud to wear one! My Aunt will be 94.5, will that do?

I went to a "Don't Do It Di" party in Clissold Park when faced with the all pervasive Di/ Charles Windsor wedding celebrations which was an effective antidote.

The last weekend in May and first weekend in June are part of the Summer half term school holidays so I'm not sure if that will effect prospective dates.

Now I'll never be a Lady! I would love to turn one down though and join the ranks of Bowie and Faraday.

Well let's not make it a Liz-bashing bash either please... some folks love the old duck you know

Marie Antoinette, our guillotine awaits you at la Place de la Révolution, top of Duckett to speed the blood flow. Tumbril provided free of charge for your convenience, but bring your knitting and some cake if you must: there may be a long queue so you must take your turn. As for that Liz, we shall get around to the old duck and duke over the next five months.

Vive la République!

There isn't a guillotine blade sharp enough to sever my thick head
Hi Jessica, just stuck my head inside the Salisbury and can't figure who was part of this and who wasn't. It's pretty busy. I spoke with the pub landlord guy and he reckons it cost 80k to do a street party once and while it will be cheaper because the road will already be closed, it will still be super expensive. He also knows a guy who works locally that organised a other street party not long ago so he seems like a great person to ask for info. I'm well up for making this happen so give me a shout if you have a meeting another night when I don't have deadlines for work. Jason

Dam, I'm home now. I look forward to hearing all about it on here ;)

Great idea!!!
