Since Karcher make pressure washers, how about the pavement by the southbound Harringay Green Lanes Station bus stop - regular stacking of rubbish sacks against the bus shelter has badly stained the pavement that was only renewed two years ago. Small area but witnessed by loads of bus users.

It would be nice to have it clean for the poor batsards who live, work and walk around here on a daily basis.

How about fining landlords / business owners for the routinely strewn bags of stinking crap which adorn Turnpike and Green Lanes...

KFC, Wrigley and the like aren't directly responsible for littering, the people who buy their products are. I'm sure there are many things that they could be doing to help reduce littering but this is the one they have gone for. At least they are recognising that they can play a part in solving the issue of littering and are doing so. Yes they do it primarily as a PR exercise but so what? If it helps solve the problem I really don't care. It's similar to Tesco, the UK's largest purveyor of high sugar food and drinks, supporting Diabetes UK. Ultimately I would rather see the corporate sector trying to help reduce problems (whether or not they have helped cause them) than not.

Sorry Lanner, I was being overly critical. Yes, of course you're right that it's better they do than they don't. What I would like to see from them though is more thought about how their products do add to the problem of litter and how they could stop it happening in the first place.

The link I posted is inviting people to nominate a local grot spot for a free deep clean.
As Gordon T has correctly recognised Karcher do indeed make pressure washers.
One of the big issues with the Harringay Passage is that it doesn't get an actual wash. It's full of dog mess and is a main route for 2 of our local schools.
If enough people vote for an area, it will be in with a chance of wining the competition. Just saying.
Re: Steve's comment about the landlords and business owners along Green Lanes - I would be very happy to help you or anyone else approach local business / landlords to propose a "Clean-up Green lanes" group - there is funding available though the Capital Clean-up scheme: https://www.london.gov.uk/what-we-do/environment/waste-and-recyclin...
