The Cure - Finsbury Park 1993,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IeKlahbojw

one of my fave music moments hearing opening chords of "The Forest" just as the sun was setting over Finsbury Park - tingles!

Now that was loud. I was convinced that Suggs was in my living room.

Ah, I remember Madstock. Red-faced men in fezes vomiting in the flowerbeds and fighting. Plus ca change.

Rose-tinted spectacles for all, I think. The past is another country...it's always better there.

So true Liz

Agreed. Some of the Madness fans were pretty horrible, it all felt v dodgy and quite nasty. I'm vaguely remembering some trouble to do with them and Desmond Decker, but it was a long time ago ...

I remember it well, having paid for ticket - I could have saved the money and heard them from the garden.  The flats in Rowley Gardens really did shake (apparently!). I have many good memories of bands playing in the park.

From all these comments looks like Finsbury Park is best known as a premiere music destination ... with the usual rain, mud, crowds, noise, and some bad crowd behaviour to deal with but, just look at all these events & famous bands that have passed through with some fantastic personal experiences.

Alison, that video of Pulp is excellent for showing the view of setting up for the concert then the crowds later. Always great to have an historical perspective. Thank you all !

Let's not forget Rage Against The Machine's free gig - another historic music event at the park!

... who kept X Factor out of the Xmas No1 spot :)

Back full circle to this year with Jessie J

The music just keeps rolling on year after year ...

Bernard sang Love Will Tear Us Apart and She's Lost Control. That gig was wet but wonderful and one of the reasons I choose to live in Harringay so I wouldn't have to travel back to Hounslow. Remember the pub opposite Manor House?
Now there's something I'd like to see

Me to!! A mini Womad would be excellent.
