Good luck David.

This is impressive.... I'd get tired just watching the marathon!

Yes, good luck David. Just belatedly made a donation.

I'll be very pleased if I'm up to doing a marathon when I hit 65

All the best David.

I would like to wish you the very best in this amazing challenge that you have set yourself and I will, of course, donate to such an important charity. Very Happy Birthday too.

Thanks so much to everybody for their support and for their generosity. We've now raised more than £2400 (quite a bit of it from HoL members) and the money is still coming in.

Yes, I'm very much around, despite the best efforts of mile 21 to finish me off, and I'm eager to have a go again next year. My 6 hr 10 minute time can certainly do with some improvement.

Anyone who wants to fall in love with London all over again need only run a marathon here. The runners, volunteers, and spectators are quite simply fantastic. I had the phrase "I'm 65 today - Presents please to Leukaemia Cancer Society" written on my shirt, and because of that I was serenaded with "Happy Birthday" the whole of the 26.2 miles. Easily worth the aching muscles - even at mile 21.

All the best,

David

Well done! Glad you enjoyed it.

Fantastic, well done David.

Deeply impressive.  Run 26 miles on your 65th birthday.  It's an achievement beyond my wildest dreams!

Cynically timed to coincide with local elections actually. Nothing to do with his birthday at all, that was incidental. There is nothing these people won't do to get elected.

You think the London Marathon was re-scheduled to coincide with the election run-up ?

It's you that's cynical

Dear John (McMullan that is), it is too soon in life for you to play the miserable curmudgeon.  What on earth will be left for you when you have reached the status of grumpy old man?
