Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi

Probably nothing but just to make you aware that there are people calling in Cavendish Road saying they are from ADT and promoting security devices for property, because of 'the high risk of burglary in the area'.

They could be legit but it never hurts to be aware that they might not be and are sussing out your house and what sort of security you have.

My maxim is never to trust callers at the door - especially from high profile companies who people might trust.

If you want alarms etc, ring a company yourself and arrange a visit

He came to our door too on Burgoyne Rd saying the same thing.

I just don't think that such a large company would send out door-to-door salesmen ! I will give them a call tomorrow and check whether they do this sort of sales.

Sure - I did not find it that odd at that time cos we get so many people through the door (mainly charities though).  But I never questioned in this way either and, come to think, there were some odd behaviours/remarks in him.  The man was very keen to enter the house as soon as he introduced himself and ADT was very inconspicuous in his appearance, no document files or anything on him, etc.

Had him on Seymour Road too.

Large black guy.

Yellow jacket.

Very smiley.

Seemed kosher to me.

I have ADT I do not think they do door to door selling

Had a visit from ADT last night despite a notice 'No Cold Callers' on the door. I simply pointed to the notice and he backed off immediately.

Okay then. I called ADT today to enquire about cold calling.

Yes, they have people going round our area selling ADT products until 8pm at night.

I hope I haven't alarmed anyone, my apologies

Thanks for looking into it.  We now have a piece of mind.

I have nevertheless complained about it to ADT. No ID, no information, one hi-vis vest between them, asking to enter my house at 8.45 at night.

Anyone who wants a security check should ask SNT to pay a visit. They'll identify problems and suggest solutions for you.
