What do you think? Is Tottenham throwing the proverbial toys out the pram? Is this believable? It seems like a pretty credible source. This kind of behaviour pretty much cements my hatred of commercial sport.

As an Arsenal follower i can't imagine a world without the hatred of spurs as a neighbour and therefore, direct competitor. Who (in North london) will there be to direct all that hate toward after Spurs leave the country ?

In other parts of the world they are not so privileged and had to fight so hard to get a stadium in the first place that they don't mind a bit of distance from play... Spoilt, spoilt, spoilt.

By your own admission you neither like or follow football, fans do mind the running track and apart from Brighton HA and their temporary arrangements no one in the English league play in such conditions.
Spurs won't leave, it's all part of the pantomime.

Been there, done that, in fact I have been to three homes of that franchise (something else that doesn't work in footballing nations) . It is not a football stadium just like the MCG or Telstradome it's a multi use facility.

My concern is that they bought up all the property around the stadium at White Hart Lane, closing many small businesses, workshops, pubs, etc..... turning an already deprived community into a wasteland with the promise of redevelopment. Now the team's threatening to walk away, leaving Tottenham in a worse state than before the promise of redevelopment.
It really is just a business, the team cares nothing about its fans or the community that has been its home for many years.

well we can all make an educated guess as to what all that land they have bought up will be used for - sold to developers to build loads of low cost social flats - more drain on schools, doctors, hospitals etc - no profit there for all the fast food shops on the high road

Kurt Barling's of BBC London News blog on this issue is of interest and echoes Rachella's concerns around Tottenham's behaviour:
Over in Tottenham the club cannot argue for years with local businesses to support their case for redevelopment and then suddenly expect those same people to be happy as Larry when they change their minds and make it clear they want to up sticks because years of talk have led to an unviable plan, which by the way was viable two months ago.
