Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This about summer gas-related roadworks on the Haringey website from Cadent:

"Cadent Gas will soon begin a major project to improve the reliability of its network for customers across north London.

"Cadent will close West Green Road for about 10 weeks from May to July 2024. Traffic and bus diversions will be in place ...

"Cadent Gas are closing the following roads:

  • West Green Road between Westerfield Road and Portland Road, and High Road from 7 May to 21 July
  • Westerfield Road at the junction with West Green Road, with access only via Seven Sisters Road

"A diversion will be in operation directing traffic travelling between Turnpike Lane and Seven Sisters to use Green Lanes and Seven Sisters Road."

Quite what effect this will have on Harringay is not clear.

Crucially,

"Certain parts of the Bruce Grove West Green and the St Ann’s LTNs will be suspended during this period to allow traffic to divert while the West Green Road closure is in place.

We are currently assessing which camera-controlled filters on specific roads will be temporarily lifted, ensuring traffic flow and road safety is considered, and will provide further details on this page as soon as they become available."

No mention of suspending parking on Green Lanes which would seem to be a bit of a no brainer, especially if some of the bus routes that currently go along West Green Road are diverted down here.

I’d be very surprised if they diverted buses from WGR.

And how miserable of them to lift parts of the LTN I was really enjoying the permajam on West Green. It’s been fabulous!

You’re right. I was thinking of the wrong end of WGR for the closure!

Bus diversions? Only the 41 uses that stretch of West Green Road. My guess is it will be diverted north and onto Philip Lane westbound and rejoin WGR by the school and almost-roundabout. No effect on Green Lanes.

I imagine that it will be the rest of the traffic aiming to get from Turnpike Lane to Seven Sisters Road and being diverted on to GL that will be the issue.  When you are at the pedestrian crossing outside the Havergal Surgery the volume is substantial.

The change to the 41 route is now on the TfL website

Diverted onto Philip Lane but bus stop on Philip Lane suspended. OK. Is there any map of new route?

41 still stops at stop called Philip Lane (though its West Green Common) it then goes along Philip Lane and turns down Town Hall Approach to join High Road then turn left towards Tottenham Hale at Seven Sisters

There isn’t a map unfortunately  The text is confusing.  Does it mean that it won’t stop at Philip Lane stop D (the one at the actual West Green) all the way to Seven Sisters Station stop F or not at the stop between these stops when it’s diverted along Philip Lane and down the High Road?

I got a letter with a map, but I'm still not 100% clear what is happening.

Thanks. Working from that QR code, I've added two links at the end of the original post.
