Profile Information

Lived in Harringay from 1951 till 1962 (seemed a lifetime). Went to south grove school till 1960. Met my now wife at south grove youth club (married 1966). My brother Barry played with the Dave Clark Five Circa 1959 and was also a member of the junior Harringay Racers. Many happy memories of the Coronation, speedway, stock car racing, mucking out stables at the horse of the year show, Great music, Tom Arnolds Circus. Even had the pleasure of having Tex McLeod living in our house in 1952 whilst he appeared in the Western show at Harringay Arena with Tex Ritter etc. Too many happy memories to mention. The 50s and 60s were the greatest eras ever to grow up in. Met my wife in 1960 at South Grove youth club and married in 1966.

Hi Colin.  What wonderful memories we all had!  Yes South Grove Youth club and the Royal was my dancing place!.  My dad loved the greyhound racing and although he died when I was just 3 months old, I always thought of him when I heard the roar of the crowds over at the Arena.  Left in 1965 to come to the States, but was just back home with my brother in Enfield for the Jubilee.  Hope all is well with you and family.  Meryl
