Free: two water butts

We have two Blackwall water butts, one with a capacity of 100 litres and the other is believed to be 168 litres, complete with stands and a few fittings. Both are in fair condition as seen in the photos and could do with a clean - they have taps fitted and don't leak but the base of the larger one has a slightly weaker area at one side so that when it is full of water it tends to lean to one side. This isn't a problem if the butt is sited next to a wall or fence to support it - they measure…See More

Free: HP Deskjet 1220C A3+ printer for parts or repair, with new ink cartridges

In clean condition complete with new ink cartridges, this printer was working until this morning but the paper now no longer feeds when the feed button is pressed. As I have bought another A3 printer that will also do dye sublimation printing, there's really no point in my fixing this one now so I'm giving it away.Note: this printer can print onto A3+ (or A3 Super) 483 x 330mm size paper - that's an uncommon size between A3 and A2, good for posters, etc.Can be collected any time from Lausanne…See More

New platform refreshment kiosk at Hornsey rail station

A pleasant surprise yesterday was to find a refreshment kiosk called Moonlight Cafe has opened on the southbound platform 1, serving coffee and other hot drinks and delicious chocolate croissants, served by a very friendly chap. It's nice to see entrepreneurial startups like this during what has turned out to be a rather dismal era for small businesses, so I hope this kiosk gets plenty of custom.Andy     See More

Profile Information

I've lived in Harringay since 1988 and enjoy the cultural diversity, the predominantly Victorian/Edwardian built landscape, the variety of food & drink to be found in the Harringay part of Green Lanes and the fact I can go out to the local shops at any time of day or night and find just about anything & everything food-wise.

Although the area does have its problems compared with other parts of London I have lived in (Barnet and the Wandsworth/Southfields area) with dodgy local government, rubbish & fly-tipping especially being major issues, those who choose to live in the area seem generally down-to-earth, honest, hard-working people. And the Haringey recycling/reuse facilities are the best I've encountered anywhere.
