Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Bruce Castle Heritage Quarter Open Day | Sunday 4 May, 11am to 4pm

Explore this special historic area around Bruce Castle, the Park, Church, Pub and Cemetery.

Free, no booking required.

Programme for the day:

11am: Bruce Castle Museum doors open

11.15am to 11.30am: Ribbon cutting ceremony by the Mayor of Haringey, to open Bruce Castle Museum’s newly restored gallery spaces

11am to 4.30pm: Old Kitchen Café open at Bruce Castle Museum, with WW2 themed refreshments to mark 80 years since VE Day

11am to 4pm: Bruce Castle tours (inside and outside) every 45 minutes

11am to 4pm: Tottenham Cemetery Chapel open to the public, plus guided walks:

  • 11am: From the Andes to N17 –  A Talk by Ashley Grey on John Eliot Howard
  • 12 noon: Secret Spurs History – A Walk led by Martin Burrows covering the origins of Tottenham Hotspur 
  • 2pm:  Stories behind the Stones – A Walk led by Tony Ball on the lives of local people who made a difference

Plus - a new Heritage Trail map and leaflet of the BCHQ area will be available for the first time. Designed and illustrated by artist Emmie Joanna with generous support from the Antwerp Arms, and heritage commentary by Bruce Castle Museum & Archive and the Friends of Tottenham Cemetery.
