The original frontage was really rather handsome before it was mangled by the failed Northern Heights project.
I agree. If you use the tag under the photo, you'll see a few photos of Station Place. But this is the first one where I noticed the gothic arches on the station frontage. I also saw the mock Tudor cinema frontage in the background which I hadn't seen before.
Indeed - I wonder whether that's still there under the plaster!
Hi Vaughan, I do understand your frustration with the watermarking. When I first started adding historical photos to this site I didn't used to mark them at all. I then found that the images were being copied and sold on ebay. So I started adding a watermark. I try to do it in such a way as not to obstruct the viewing experience but to render them unsaleable if copied.
It sounds like you have a fascinating collection of photos that should be shared.
As a member of the HHS Publications Committee, I never object to a book! Having published my own book in 2024, I also know what a lot of work it is: of course that is not to say it shouldn't be done.
The first thing is to arrive at a theme. Did you have something in mind?
