Oh, oh.. dates !!

The 623 was the first trolleybus route introduced along Seven Sisters Road in 1936. It was also the first to be withdrawn on 27th APRIL !! 1960 and was replaced by bus route 123. I was taken on a trip on the first day of Routemaster operation .

The other trolleybus routes along Seven Sisters towards Amhurst Park were the 653 replaced in January 1961 by the 253 bus and the 627, 659 & 679, replaced on 26th April 1961 by the 127, 259, 276 & 279 bus routes.

I knew you'd get me on the dates! I originally had April then I noticed something on another website and change it to November! Now reverted to April

Oh what fun these used to cause when the conductor occasionally they`d connect to the wrong wire and the bus would go in the wrong direction. Once when I was on the bus we had 2 conductors as one of them got on the wrong bus

Agree Maureen. Those things that gathered power were called 'frogs' which made it even funnier!
