I'm sure Stephen will know this for sure but there appears to be an advert for Black TIghts on the front of the 269. Googling this shows there was a 1960/61 film called Black Tights. So could be a clue?

Summer of 1961 - The 269 was introduced on 26/04.1961 - the 641 withdrawn 08/11.1961

Thanks for those memories Charles - keep 'em coming.

I noticed a premsies behind the old Coliseum the other day, on Harringay Gardens. Any idea what that used to be?

15 years late in response Hugh BUT :  Premises behind old Coliseum, in Harringay ROAD. Corner premises on right was green grocers shop, Wheelers, I think?, fronted St Anns Road. Tyre shop (at least under 'East Barnet' section of signage) was a junk shop, run by an eccentric old lady by name of Vera Nelson. On what seemed quite frequent occasions she would climb out of her first floor window onto roof of the single storey shop, shouting and screaming until she was escorted away for a few days.  This would be 1950s/60s time when I lived further down on right at number 40a. Happy days.
