Only 25% of the Green Lanes grill restaurants visited by the council so far are protecting our health
That means 75% aren't.
Shockingly 75% of the restaurants visited by the council to date using solid fuel grilling do not have filters in place to prevent harmful pollutants being pumped out into our community.
This is quite frankly astonishing – especially given the amount of refurbs we have seen over the years.
All restaurants now know the dangers these unfiltered cooking methods pose to our health, our children’s development and our quality of life.
We are asking - who is making a change? Who is not? And why not?
Shortly we'll be publishing the names of the restaurants that have these modern filters in place (electrostatic precipitators) – let’s give them our support and thank them for investing in our community’s safety.

NEITHER the council nor the restaurants appear to be taking air pollution seriously enough.

Can we name and shame those that are not polluting and those that are. That way we can all choose to avoid the pollutants

IF the council were not so apparently cosy with GL businesses, then this is an example of a measure that could be taken as an interim step.

The council's Director of Public Health is Dr. Will Maimaris who five years ago, led the Covid response in Haringey.

Week on week, cases are up 62%
Such is the current demand for Covid testing kits, I understand that some chemists have run out of stock.
Any Haringey resident with respiratory difficulties should be concerned generally and those living near GL should be concerned with the particular absence of a robust response by the council to the charcoal burning businesses.
