Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Delivery Cart for Bambridge's Bakery, Harringay, c1905

I'm not sure where the cart is standing, but the bakery was at 595 Green Lanes at the bottom of Beresford (in half of what is now Beans and Barley.

I think the bakery you are referring to John Shulver maybe the one between Alison and Hewitt Roads.  We lived at 573 Green Lanes in the 50's. Which was above part of the corner shop newagents. The bakery was two doors down - cannot remember which way the numbers went.  We had Wilson's the Chemist next to us and then the Bakers.

Well of course you may be right there Christine but I seem to recall we turned left up Colina Road, from Harringay Rd, and then right into Green lanes, past Oakwood laundry frontage towards Medlock's direction.  That is the vision I have in my memory........but of course ??  But you can recall those neighbouring shops where I can't.  All I vividly recall at the the bottom of Alison is a church hall of some sort where I attended cubs while the older scouts went to a separate hall facing Green Lanes. Always though remember the bread being hot, picking at it on slow walk home......aaaaahh bliss.
