Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

... And What About the Noam Chomsky revealed in the Epstein Papers?

People who have not heard of Professor Noam Chomsky may want to begin with Wikipedia.

I was surprised and pleased that as of 8 February 2026 Wikipedia editors had added an update referring to Chomsky's wife Valeria's apology in a statement that his relationship with Epstein was a "grave mistake".

Yes, I saw the picture of the great Chomsky in the sky with Epstein (not a metaphor...yet) a few weeks ago. You may remember me previously writing about 'left devouring left', that is what I am presently watching with a full bag of popcorn as Starmer is pulling his cabinet 'sandbags' around him to keep away the peripheral Labour hordes.

No, Martin Woodside, I don't remember your writing about the "Left devouring Left".

I have a longstanding detestation of Great Leaders. Especially someone like Chomsky who was inspired as a young man by Anarchist thinkers. And even original and brilliant scientists, philosophers and others who get old and have brains or bodies which are damaged or no longer work as well.

To turn a severe stroke or gradual senility into an enjoyable spectacle to be watched with glee "with a full bag of popcorn" as you suggest Martin, is unnecessarily nasty. Please don't demean yourself, as you also grow older.

I suggested that HoL members might prefer to read Wikipedia for an initial overview. It relates the scientific and other body of work of creativity snd discovery which Noam Chomsky has offered the world, until recently.

Chomsky is now no longer able to communicate in person. His books, articles and videoed talks still can.

P.S. Martin Woodside, If you're particularly proud of your "Left devouring Left" piece, then I'm happy to try reading it with an open mind. Do please send me the link.

The same tired old shtick. Misinterpret very plain and easily understandable written English, in order to assume some greater morality.

Martin didn't suggest what you have accused him of. Anyone with an ounce of integrity can see that.

Can I suggest you right click and select 'reading mode' or some similar tool on your browser. This will read aloud any text or page selected. While not perfect, it might help with your regular confusion about what people have written.

Jamie Harper, thanks for your suggestion that I've misinterpreted what Martin Woodside wrote. Of course I accept this is possible.

He packed a lot into a single short final paragraph, didn't he?

As you like "very plain and easily understandable written English",  perhaps you will ask Martin Woodside to post his explicit permission on HoL for you to be his spokesperson/plain English interpreter.

In the meantime as you're a fan of plain English, would you please post a plain English explanation of your first sentence "The same tired old shtick". I take 'shtick' to be Yiddish. It was my father's first language. But he's no longer around to ask his advice.
According to Wikipedia it has many more possible meanings than I'd guessed.

While you're on re-interpretation, please further help me out by explaining in clear simple English prose what you mean by: "in order to assume some greater morality". I genuinely assume that you and your clever friends know more then me and understand more complex ideas. (As well as occasionally sprinkling your writing with impressive foreign words.)

I note your suggestion that I may "need help with [my] regular confusion about what people have written."
In return I offer my own observation of Noam Chomsky that an immensely learned and inspiring scholar may towards the end of his very long life, stain his principles and the truth.
