I worked at CICA (nearly 20 years ago) and the advice we used to give was go to Victim Support first - they do not charge and should be able to help you. CICA does not pay solicitors' fees.

Hello Johnny

Thanks for your advise. I was asking for a friend. He was attacked by a shop lifter 5 years ago and lost front teeth and had 9 operations but lost partial sight in 1eye. He put in a claim  at the time but is still waiting for compensation. I was wondering of a solicitor would speed up the process even thugh they will take a large fee . Susan

Hi Susan

That sounds horrible. I wish your friend well

I think there is a time limit on applying to CICA. When I was there it was 2 years from the incident. Again, Victim Support should be able to offer advice.

Thank you. Yes its still 2 years from the date of the incident. He made the application 5 years ago now. We will try Victim Support and keep chasing it up.

Thanks
