Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
MP Catherine West and MP Sarah Champion's letter to the PM
I find that one of our local MPs Catherine West has so far not added her name to MP Sarah Champion's letter to Keir Starmer concerning Palestine when 221+ MPs from across the House feel able to do so.
Depending on your point of view you may wish to contact Catherine either to encourage her to sign the letter or to encourage her not to?

Hi David, Perhaps adopting a somewhat jokey tone is your way of masking your own distress at events in and near Gaza on and since 7 October 2023 ?

Of course I am selective in what I have time to read and view. Who is not?
A few people have asked me about places to start reading. I might perhaps suggest Israelis Amira Hass, Gideon Levy and Ilan Pappe. And U.S. Professor Norman Finklestein "Gaza an Inquest into its Martyrdom". Each of them can be found on Youtube if people prefer short videos.
I also find the U.S. journalist Chris Hedges enormously valuable. He writes books and makes videos - the Chris Hedges Report.

She’s also refusing to support trans people against the recent high court ruling. Her response to me was ‘let’s all calm down’ as one of my best friends has all of her rights eroded and JK smokes a cigar. Next they’re going after the ponds in Hampstead. She’s no good for Haringay’s diverse, tolerant, ethical people. I won’t be voting for her again.

Perhaps I'm old fashioned but I would have thought that abiding by a high court decision (ie. The law) is the very least that we would expect of an MP.

You believe obeying every law is the job of your MP? I feel that takes us down some dodgy historical debates….

For instance, I’m so happy that at some point someone’s MP challenged slavery and women’s rights to vote, to name but a few. I do think that’s a fundamental part of an MPs actual job.

Yes, I most certainly do.
They can argue, via the appropriate parliamentary channels, for a law to be changed but up until the point that a change is enacted they must abide by the law as it stands.
That's how parliamentary democracy works.
You don't get to choose which laws you abide by.
