Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This shop was on the north side of St Ann's Road, just to the east of Seven Sisters Road. All the Victorian housing on that part of the road has been demolished and replaced with public housing.

The Saloon stood just to the east of the corner of where Plevna Crescent now stands. (Location on Google Street View).

I have estimated the date. I may be wrong by a decade or so.

It says very clearly Gents.... I know my grandfather had wavy hair but I always assumed it was natural.

I guess they didn’t only do short back and sides in the 1920s!

Richard Woods..........was Tony's at rear of tobacconists next to The Salisbury ??  That's the premises I remember and used but no idea of names.

No, but Tony's was near the Salisbury - opposite side of the road and I am going to guess from 50 year old memory; towards Hewitt Road, maybe where Snugs now is? (I did a Google walkabout).

No I can't recall that.
