Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello,

Can anyone recommend someone to put up a new fence and remove an old one at my home on the Harringay ladder please?

I'm looking for a recent contact as some on of the threads on here seem to have gone quiet.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Not totally helpful but is it clear which one belongs to you? We're not sure which side we own the fence

Hi.

Pretty sure it's ours. The neighbour on the other side replaced the other side last year.

Thanks.

From your postcode (which I can see but others can't), I can tell you from the British Land map that you are responsible for the rear fence and the fence to the left as you stand looking out from the back of your house. I hope that matches your plans.

Allison (or most of it) is the first road where responsibility for the rear fence lies with the owner of the house on the south side of the road. That pattern is the same all the way up to Turnpike Lane. From Hewitt Road to Umfreville Road, the responsibility transfers to owners of houses with a north facing garden (with the exception, for some reason, of north facing numbers 1 - 25, the owners of which have the responsibility. This relieves the owners of numbers 2-36 Allison Road of the burden).

Hi Hugh, sorry I'm tagging along here ...I also struggle to establish which back garden side fence is my responsibility as one side needs attention before winter. Could you send the British Land map link you used for me to find out, I'm in N17. Many thanks

Hi Nicole, British Land bought and sold plenty of land, but I'm not sure what they transacted in present-day Haringey beyond Harringay and Hornsey.

I only have the maps for the Harringay Ladder. None of the land in the east of Harringay, (i.e. to the east of Green Lanes) was transacted by British Land as far as I'm aware.

In Hornsey, they were responsible for several estates including Campsbourne and Abyssinia (Hornsey Vale). I don't know what land they were involved in in Tottenham and or Wood Green.

No worries Hugh and thanks for the prompt reply. Any idea which direction I could go for advice? Wasn't made clear when I bought the property, seems right and left side rule of thumbs are a bit all over the place...

Re the point of your post, I amended your tag. That will lead you to all 'fencer' threads. They include one from January which looks quite promising.
