John Lennon is with John Dunbar, Marianne Faithfull's husband - they'd seen the event on the TV news in John's house in Weybridge and decided to go up to Alexandra Palace on a whim, chauffeur driven no doubt.

A certain Yoko Ono is also there, doing a piece of performance art involving a young lady. Possibly attracting Mr L's attention.

Pity such radical events as the 14-hour Technicolor Dream are no longer very frequent at the Peoples Palace ... now its pinnacle of fame is hostting a month of myriads of pot-bellied darts throwers and their boozy fans

Elitist, moi?

Certainememt pas! Sounds even more ghastly than the tattoo fair I saw advertised there last year, but better those sorts of event s than nothing at at all and dereliction I suppose.

John Lennon had met Yoko Ono the previous October at her exhibition at Indica Galleryin the West End.

I've seen footage in a couple of documentaries of local mods (prototype skinheads really) who turned up at the Technicolor Dream to jeer at the hippies and look for a bit of aggro.

Pink Floyd with the late Syd Barrett - great stuff and deservedly very popular!

What time of day would you start a 14 hour gig, and what time would you want it to finish? 24 years ago I was walking back from Euston Station after seeing my girlfriend, now my wife, leave for Birmingham by train. On my return walk to Mornington Crescent I saw such a gig wrap up, it was 8.30-9am on a Sunday, so it could have started at 6PM, before sunset Saturday?

Were they hippies, or a mixed bag exploring psychedelia.
