I'm assuming that since this ticket requires a signature it's more likely to be a season ticket that a single journey ticket. I'm sure the transport boys will set me right if I'm mistaken.

OK, thanks. So that £12 is one way of gauging the difference in prices. Measuring Worth offer some guidance as to which is the best measure.

That's good stuff - I always think the best real comparison is 'time to earn' - that is I believe how people themselves tend to think of it, even after the arrival of HP! And that way the ludicrous rise in house prices also starts to make some degree of (non)sense! Mind you that ticket still looks a bit pricey for the time AND it's only Third Class! FT site gives £187 pa as average earnings - that what £3 4s6d ish a week?
