Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
You wait for a Bus.....Manor House Junction, c1925
This is probably the most recent picture of the old Manor House pub that I've seen. It must have been taken just a few years before it was rebuilt and the Piccadilly Line arrived.
Notice the sign on the southern side of the old pub and the terrace of houses extending beyond the Finsbury. Beyond it are the tree along the boundary of Northumberland House.
(Thanks to Glenn and Stephen, the title of this picture has now been edited to reflect the fact the the vehicles pictures are buses and not trams and that the date is c1925, not c1920. Also It was not apparently taken from a tram as the information I was given stated).

There are no trams in the photograph, those are three motor buses!

The little blur next to the front bus appears to be a motor bike and side-car, like my grandad had.
I think there used to be an island in the middle of seven sisters rd (just out of sight on the right) where you boarded the tram, later used as a taxi rank - that would be 1950s-60s as I remember.

Dating this photo to post 1922.
The AEC NS 'Nulli Secundus' buses (covered uper deck) were first put into service in 1922 and ran in service until 1937. The AEC S Type buses (open upper deck) ran in service until 1927.
My gut feeling says 1924/25. But can't prove that yet. Would need to check when bus routes 21 & 29 were allocated NS vehicles.

BTW, this photo was taken from the pavement. The two tram tracks across the junction to Seven Sisters Road, can clearly be seen in the foreground.

One east, one west, eh. I guess you're right. It came balled as being taken from a tram and I thought that perhaps the shape on the bottom left was part of a tram. Any idea what that could be?

I think it was most probably a barrow.. A fruit stall or such like perhaps.

Another point, this is quite early on in NS operation.
If you look closely at the destination and intermediate blinds on the NSs in the photo, you will notice that they are of a different style (seperate destination & vis points) to the later style shown on my photo. The space left und the route number, where the larger destination board was previously positioned, can be clearly seen on my photo.
