Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm guessing that this image is late 1940s / early 1950s, but what interested me is the now long gone London Transport wayfinder post in the middle of the junction.

A great picture, Hugh. When are we going to see a Harringay Photo Exhibition?

The driver has a long trip ahead of him...!

I've toyed with the idea, Michele, but I'm not sure how much interest there is.

I wonder what route that bus driver woûld have taken through London towards Guildford, maybe crossing the Thames at Kew bridge!

I do remember it looking like this in the 1950's sometimes with a policeman directing traffic in the middle of the road. Trams used to come out between the pub and the shops!

Google is your friend :-)

Original RF routes

715: GUILDFORD via Ripley, Esher, Tolworth (Kingston from 1977), Shepherds Bush, Oxford Circus, Enfield and Ware to HERTFORD

As said - a long trip.

I remember quite recently there were vestigial tram lines between the pub and the shops. I think there must have been a depot there.

And the driver has already driven from Hertford via Enfield, Kari.

Victor, the 715 served Barnes Common and Hammersmith, so would very likely have used Hammersmith Bridge.

Here's some info from Stephen about the 715 in later years.

John D & Gordon T I also remember a green line bus coming up Seven Sisters Rd from South Tottenham direction taking a similar route into London Town through Oxford St and onwards towards Guildford maybe!
