This image was taken looking east towards West Green. Pets Corner on the right is on the corner of Harringay Road and is where Passione & Tradizione now is.

Just to the end of my era in Harringay so very evocative - but looking at Google today less has changed than in most places.
My Grandparents lived In Stanley Rd So I used to walk along this stretch a lot as a child in the 60's and 70's nearly always stopping to look in the window of Pets corner. I also remember shops along here like Mills Market and Wests the chemist and Blaines the Bakers.
Can anyone remember the name of the butchers shop between Harringay Rd & Stanley Rd ?
Mr. Draper the Butcher who always wore a straw boater.
Oh yes.........kids eating chips ! That has stirred memories. We lived down opposite end of Harringay Road, St Anns end. I used to be a choirboy in the church which was down the road on left in this pic, can't recall name of it. We had choir practise which I think was on Friday nights and I seem to think we were paid threepence or sixpence for our "commitment". This was immediately traded in for a bag of chips at the chip shop on our release. Hot chips on cold dark winter nights. Real treat ! One Christmas we performed at The Dorchester Hotel, Mayfair !! One summer we had a wonderful one or two week camping trip, way out in the "country" somewhere, transported in an open backed removal lorry. Brilliant. However West Green Road always felt a bit alien to me, our patch was Green Lanes (Harringay) and Wood Green, though I sometimes walked home from school (South Grove) or football in Downhills, along there and we had family in Stanley Road. Good memories.
Pets Corner has some fond memories for me. It was an old school petshop with puppies etc. in the window! They also sold fishing tackle and bait. Many a paper bag of maggots scrunched up in my pocket for a fishing day up the river.
