Where is/was the Fire Station ? I can't place it from my time. And abundance of moustaches....8 out of 12 !
Good question. There's a well-known painting of Wood Green Fire Station in 1873. Albert Pinching explained that it was on land next to St Michael's Church. By the turn of the century it was at 289 High Road, tucked away behind the shops just north of the Fishmongers' Arms pub.

By 1914, a new station had been built on Bounds Green Road which still stands today, though I think it's no longer in service. Looking at the styling of the building, it seems almost certain that it is the one which is shown in the photo above.
