I came upon this old (1970's?) matchbox top advertising the delights of the Flower Pot pub that once stood on St Ann's Road. Interestingly the road name is misspelt. The name of the pub lives on in the name of the estate road that replaced it, Flower Pot Close.

Thanks, Alan (and JPQ for starting the thread). What a striking building!.
The site was No. 19, at the far east end of St Ann's Road, in the shadow of St Ignatius Church, near the junction with Tottenham High Road. There had been a pub on the site since the start of the 1870s.

I'm not sure what occasioned the rebuild. According to the OS map below the date of construction was post-1954. I wonder if it was done during the redevelopment of the road in the 1970s.

Later, apparently, the Flowerpot turned into the Emerald Bar and lost it's unusual front bay.

I lived in Stamford Hill from 1985 until I moved to Beresford Road in 1992. I used to drink in Flower Pot in the late 1980s - on those evenings when I couldn't be bothered to walk down to Stoke Newington Church Street. It had reverted back to being The Flowerpot then although it looked more like Hugh's photograph than Alan's. It was...interesting.
