Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Williamsons Potteries (Watercolour 1875)

A watercolour by W.E. Mackeness.

This was roughly where the Arena Shopping Park is today.

I think this is looking due south with the peaks of the roofs of the houses at the west End of Hermitage Road in the distance.

The pond was the scene of several tragic deaths of local children for whom it was a real attraction.

Here's a photo the same building viewed from the other side, about a quarter of a century later

Hi Hugh

did you ever see this website about the Cole Potteries.  Amazing chimney in the painting.

Thanks, Marian. Yes I have found that page. In fact I used the watercolour image from Bruce Castle on one of my Wikipedia articles on Harringay back in 2007.
