Another view of life before Sainsburys, the Stadium and the Arena.
Love the chimneys in this view.

The great-grandson of the original pottery owner has died recently. His name was Bryan Williamson and he was my dad and lived in Haringay for most of his life. If you know anything more about the family or the pottery please let me know. Thank you.
Good grief. This is the Bryan who lived on Allison Road? He was something of a fixture at his front gate. I knew he was descended from the Potteries family, but had no idea that he had died.
It certainly is. He died last Saturday - heart failure and pneumonia got him in the end. He sold the house in Allison Road last November as his health failed and rented a flat in Portland Gardens for just a few weeks before he went into hospital. I would love to know more about the Williamson Potteries as it was never mentioned as I was growing up. I only found out about it from an article in the Green Lanes Publication I found in his flat yesterday. Did you write the article? The funeral is on Thursday 20th Feb 1.15pm at Enfield Crematorium.
The best places to start would be Bruce Castle Museum and the Hornsey Historical Society. You've found this site already, I imagine?
Yes, I found the Cole site with the help of Google and hope to include some of the information in the service on Thursday. I will certainly follow your other leads, thank you.
Thank you. I am just learning what a character he was in the area and I'm hoping to meet more of his friends on Thursday. What a shame it takes a funeral to put faces to names!
Sorry, Dawn, I missed the fact that you'd said he was your dad. My condolences too. I've also just noticed that your avatar is a picture of him at his front gate. I think for many locals that's how he'll be fondly remembered. There may be members of the Ladder Community Safety Partnership who'd like to know about the service. They can be contacted at lcsp@blueyonder.co.uk.
